Who is Alex?
Alex suffers from Tuberous Sclerosis, seizures, Autism, and very severe self-injurious behaviors. He hurts himself so badly that he can't live with us anymore. After the heartbreak of placing him outside the home, now we're having to fight an uphill battle for the medicine that may actually help him.Read his overview or in-depth introduction.

What’s the problem? Why can’t Alex just come home so we can figure this out?
With the recent surge in traffic I’ve seen variations of these questions posted as comments as well as asked directly. Some people think that if cannabis works to calm Alex, then we have no good reason to not take Alex … Continue reading
Saturday visit – mixed results
A bit ago I spoke with my grower (Alex’s grower, technically — but I am the caregiver so that has to count for something), and he mentioned eating hash usually requires a pretty large amount for most people he’s dealt … Continue reading
Some days just suck
Alex had pinkeye on Sunday, the day he was going to be driven up for a visit. This marks the first time since June of 2010 (the month I moved up to live near him) that more than a week … Continue reading
Eventually, reality sets in
It sounds like the CBD-based medicines are the way to go for Alex, and that got me pretty excited last month when I read (and posted) about them. But after a bit, I realized it still doesn’t really matter. As … Continue reading
Interesting, informative video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qa0nLdVJiIg (and see their site, http://cannabisinternational.org/) Talks some about the science, the controversy, and specifically some of the newer information about the medical value of high-CBD cannabis. Sounds like “Canatonic” might be a good choice for Alex based on the … Continue reading
Weed Wars takes on the controversial stories ABC won’t
I’m tired of waiting. ABC interviewed us in April. They were going to run a story about Alex’s situation, and it was going to be aired nationally, not just locally. I wasn’t going to say anything here until we had … Continue reading
No, I haven’t disappeared
My 4×10 schedule was a bust, Alex has been very up-and-down, and generally there’s been just a ton of chaos, especially with the new baby. There’s also just not a lot to say at this point. I still have no … Continue reading
One visit, many moods
Today we had Alex driven up to our house for his visit, and to meet his new baby sister. His mood was all over the place, and we had a few really great moments, but overall the visit was terrible.
New 4×10 schedule, and the baby
I’ve recently gotten approval at my job to work four ten-hour days rather than five eight-hour days. This allows me to visit Alex once on the weekend, and another time mid-week. It’s really nice to not have to feel like … Continue reading
No videos, but a decent visit
We saw Alex this weekend for over three hours, and it was a pretty good visit overall. He had quite a few moments of rage, but none that lasted longer than a few minutes, and none that got as intense … Continue reading
